What is the difference between adaptive yoga and traditional yoga?
We know how intimidating it can be to walk into a yoga studio. At Adaptive Healing, we strive to create a diverse, safe, and inclusive environment, demonstrating that yoga is beneficial for all cultures, genders, ages, religions, body types, and abilities. If you’ve ever felt that you did not belong in a yoga space, Adaptive Healing is the place for you. Our skilled instructors have specific training and certifications to create practices appropriate for those experiencing a variety of physical and mental issues, adapting the practice to your specific needs. Our studio is ADA compliant, wheelchair and mobility device friendly, and LGBTQ+ welcoming.
I’m new to yoga, how do I get started? I am not flexible; can I do yoga?
We are so delighted you are here. Our primary mission is to make you feel welcome, included, empowered, and to get you on your path to better physical, mental, and emotional health. We do not practice yoga for flexibility, but stability!
How do I prepare for my class?
Students are most comfortable when they do not eat at least one hour prior to class. Please arrive fragrance free and wearing comfortable but appropriate attire. The studio is a sacred space so please leave your shoes, cell phone, and other personal items in our cubbies before entering either studio.
What equipment do I need for class?
You’re welcome to use our mats and/or props if you forget your own. Please refer to the class page details to review everything you will need. A good quality water bottle is always a must to stay hydrated. Feel free to browse our branded tumblers, apparel, and other merchandise for sale at our studio. Remember, the most important equipment to bring is yourself!
Which class should I book?
See our class description page on our website for additional details on; Chair, Chair Dance Yoga, Restorative, Yin, Slow Flow, Yoga for Moms, Child Flow is suitable for all and beginner friendly. If a more vigorous style is what you seek, join us for our Vinyasa and Power Flow classes. Reach out to any of our staff or instructors if you’re new so we can support you through your practice.
How do I book a class and how much does it cost?
We use MindBody as our 3rd party booking software. Any “book now” class link on social media and/or our website will reroute and guide you through our seamless and custom booking process. Regarding pricing, please visit our schedule & pricing page to find the class(es) that fit you and your budget.
How do the free community classes work?
You can learn more about our free community classes by visiting our website. In general, these classes support charitable community causes. Donations are always optional but certainly appreciated. We love giving back!
What if I need to cancel my membership?
Of course, we’d love to hear from you in-person or at adaptivehealingllc@gmail.com, so we can learn why – if you’re moving, experiencing a life change, or simply aren’t making it on your mat. You can cancel your account at any time by emailing your request to adaptivehealingllc@gmail.com or speaking directly to one of the owners.

Is practicing yoga safe?
All activities carry potential risk; however, your safety is our highest priority at Adaptive Healing. We offer a mix of in-studio, outdoor, private, and virtual classes so you can make the best choice for you. Our studio safety protocols include but are not limited to:
- Class size is limited to allow for adequate spacing.
- Hands on adjustments are optional, read more on this below.
- Masks are optional until/unless required by a change in law.
- We follow CDC guidelines for cleaning and other protocols.
- Bringing your own mat and/or props is suggested, but you’re welcome to borrow ours. Mats and props are available for purchase at the studio.
- Cleaning supplies are placed next to blocks for easy cleaning after use of equipment.
What about hands-on adjustments/assists? Will I be touched?
We believe in the potential healing power of touch. And we believe in asking your permission to provide hands-on assistance. We offer permission cards so you can communicate your preference. If you’re open to assistance, place a permission card appropriately at the top of your mat. You can always change your mind and flip the card to the opposite side at any time.
Do you offer private instruction?
We offer private instruction for individuals and groups. We can support you in everything from creating a custom new yoga session to finding your handstand, helping brides get grounded wedding week and celebrating mamas and papas to be. Private sessions are a great option when you’re new or returning to practice or are working through an injury. Create and empowering birthday party for your child, to boost confidence and increase self-love. Learn more on our classes page and reach out to ask about any of your booking ideas.
Do you offer yoga/meditation to my work/school/hospital?
Yes! We offer both in-person and virtual sessions with businesses, hospitals and schools of all sizes, ranging from preschool to college, including schools serving children and young adults with disabilities. Learn more about our offerings by visiting our classes page.
Is Adaptive Healing wheelchair accessible?
Absolutely. Creating a space where ALL are able to access the practice and benefits of yoga was our guiding principle in designing our space and business. You’ll find an ADA bathroom and barrier-free entry. Individuals using wheelchairs, scooters, walkers or other mobility supports should enter at the regular entrance. Learn more about our Adaptive Yoga Programs here.
